So while doing some bottom fishing and was curious what others do when bottom fishing and the bite is on. Do you still change out to something else for attraction or do you stay with what is working. How long before you change to something else if what your using is not producing.
My New Motto is.... "Live like Ron"

If there biting I send it back down unchanged, often times I'll unhook what on and send it down while in still gill slitting and stringing and have a bite before I'm done with the fish on deck.

Dale- good to hear from you again.  To answer your question:

I usually will move to a new spot before switching baits. If that isn't working, I switch out every 15-20 minutes or so. I figure if I haven't been bit within 15 to 30 minutes at either PC or Depoe, I may as well try something new, but usually I will move a bit first. Lings and cabbies don't seem real picky (to me at least).

If I am getting bit, I don't change unless the soft plastic is completely falling apart. The worthy get surgery performed on them with my soldering iron.  ;D

If the bite slows or quits, I will change over and try other things until I get bit again.

Some get chewed up pretty bad, but they are still going strong. I love these guys in this color.

Hope this helped.
