Headed out to Hagg lake tomorrow morning. I am not sure at what time just yet (probably will sleep in, but we'll see.) Will be fishing for bass and probably a little trout too. If anyone's interested in joining I'd be glad to have company! I'll be on channel 69 in case...

Just got off the water a little bit ago. Got out there a little later than I would have liked but still managed to catch some. 3 smallmouth smaller size 12-15" and a few kamikaze trout that decided to bite. All but one fish were on a squarebill crank in a crawdad color. The other fish was on a Texas rigged senko in the watermelon color.

Saw this too late to join you. Haven't fished for bass or at Hagg lake so am looking forward to hitting it. Thanks for the report and pic. Where do you launch from?  Rudy

Hey Rudy.
I launched from boat ramp "A" today and worked the shoreline most of the time. I work M-F but would love to get out there with you sometime soon!

Can you share a picture of the two rigs you used?  I'm defniitely not a bass fisherman, but would like to try it (and get some rigs that will be good fish catchers).  Thanks!

Of course!!

The square bill crank I was using was the following from lucky craft lures - You definitely don't have to go fancy with lucky craft, but they have some great patterns and colors, pricey though so you don't want to lose it  >:D Today the lucky color was the "Table Rock Craw" in the 2.0" size.

The thing I like about this lure is the erratic action they have. Also they don't dive deep, so you can easily troll it along a shallow shelf if you want (It worked today on the fish in the picture.)

For the texas rig if there's light to no wind or chop in the water I fish it weightless since the 5" senkos have a pretty decent heft to them. Also part of what makes a senko great is the action it makes when dropping. Here's a nice article on texas rigging them... Super simple. the biggest thing is to make sure it's sunk all the way - which could take 15-20 seconds depending on the water depth.

Also you can fish these "wacky style" which can often times be killer if you find a nice rock shelf you can drop it down.

I am sort of having to relearn how to do all of this from a kayak instead of from a boat, but it's fun and challenging so I am enjoying that. Let me know if there's any other questions! I am by no means an expert.
