New yaker from NoCal

Well, I finally decided to try out the kayak fishing fun.  I am a long time fisherman, grew up in Oregon.  You may have seen many of my posts on ifish as Fish mojo.  Been a boat and bank angler all my life, loved salmon, steelhead, ocean fishing, and especially walleye on the Columbia and eastern Washington lakes.  I came down to California a few years ago for work situations (and the weather for the wife!!) and sold off all my boats and a good portion of my fishing gear.  I have really missed fishing and the NW.

The wife and I always liked kayaking- been sea kayaking in Hawaii, Belize, San Juan Islands, and Alaska.  We never have owned our own kayaks.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and try the yak fishing thing.   Probably just lakes and slow rivers for now, even though I know there is good offshore fishing in Sonoma County where we live.

I did some research on line and decided on the Feelfree Lure 11.5.  Just picked it up yesterday with rudder system(winter camo).  Took it out for my maiden voyage this morning on Spring Lake in Santa Rosa- a small local lake with big bass in it.  Had some rain showers, but cool with no wind and calm conditions.  I more wanted to get the feel of the boat, but decided to bring a couple of bass rods to play around with. No fish today.....

The yak is heavy, but pretty easy to move around with the Lure 11.5 built in wheel.  The gravity seat is awesome and easily adjustable.  The yak is super stable and paddles great. Not a speed demon, but that is not important.  So far after one trip, very happy with the kayak.  I'm looking forward to many trips in this.  I'll be sure to have some questions soon and share some stories. 

Anyone else with the Feelfree Lure 11.5?  Any customization tips to share?

Welcome to the forums!! I haven't heard much about the Feel Free series of kayaks, but they certainly look nice and stable!!
