Interesting catch/story concerning a 124 lb. halibut caught on May 21 in WA on a Hobie. Gets pulled in the water.

Heck of a story! This was the guy's first halibut.  He got it up to his kayak after it dragged his kayak around and dived several times, and he harpooned it, but it sounds like his drag was set a bit high, so when it dove again it pulled him out of his kayak.  He climbed back in, recovered all his gear except the rod, which wasn't leashed, pedaled over and grabbed the buoy, and eventually got it bled out.

The flip had nothing to do with his drag.

Sorry Lee, I must have misunderstood what he said in the podcast.  Why did he end up in the water?

For those who haven't listened to the podcast, listen to it! It's a great story.

It's kind of silly they call it a podcast yet I am unable to locate it with any of my podcast apps. I guess I will listen online when I get home.

Yeah I heard it that way too... Although I think he said the harpoon was tethered to his kayak and he didn't loosen his drag which lead to it.

Entertaining Story. I actually got to see him pull the fish out of kayak.
