  Made an impulse purchase at Outdoor Emporium last week, bought the new Okuma glass jigging rod, the "Cedros", sparkly purple!   Rated for 1-5.5 ounces, 6 foot, and really has some backbone. $90 or so.

 Line rating for 30-65# braid, I suppose that equates to 15-25 pound mono. It feels really good in the hand, and is a nice length---not so long as to be awkward, but long enough to get around the bow or stern when needed, and short enough to be very "wieldy" for jigging or trolling.

 The rod has a lash ring:

and really nice threadwrap:

Here's the rod, loaded with 10 oz. It will easily handle a 6 ounce jig or sinker.

It has an unusual handle, the foregrip is a little longer than usual , the rear 2-piece probably for tucking under your arm. The reel seat is triangular, very heavy duty, I've got the Avet with its rod clamp on, ready for tuna!! The rings for the reel foot are solid machined aluminum, much huskier than even the best Fuji reel seats.

the guides are zirconium, in stainless rings --very hard metal, rated for superbraid:

 Here's the Okuma description:

A special series of rods designed by Okuma for vertical jigging. Featuring E-glass rod blank construction for increased power and shock reduction while using today's super (braid) lines.

Each rod is finished with a pyramid machined aluminum reel seat for comfort stability and strength, hardened Zirconium PVD coated guide inserts, high rise 316 stainless steel guide frames, exposed blank rear grip section and the integrated jig clincher.

One of the Cedros’ most functional jig fishing features is its unique exposed-blank rear grip. The exposed blank allows the rod to fit comfortably under your arm, sliding effortlessly as you work the jig and, more importantly, avoiding the common problem of chafing.
Cedros Speed Jig Rods Features:

    * E-Glass rod construction
    * Pyramid machined reel seat for greater stability and comfort
    * Hardened Zirconium PVD guide inserts
    * Hi-rise 316 SS guide frames
    * Exposed blank rear grip
    * Integrated jig clincher (hook ring)

That looks like a great rod for the price.  Any sensitivity in the tip section or is it pretty much a broomstick?

I'm pretty sure line rating is line rating.  I mean 50 lb test braid has a line diameter of 12 lb mono, but you'd probably break a bass rod if you used it on it.  In this case I think the specific mention of braided line has more to do with the small zirconium guides are designed for braided line.

Sweet looking rod KT. Kinda reminds me of the Shimano Trevala. Let us know how that thing works out. Nice looking Avet reel. Make sure to leash that bugger! ;)

The tip is limber, but not like a mooching rod.  Not as stiff as a standup tuna rod...
a very nice action.  Prolly overkill for salmon with the Avet, but you never know when the Beast of the Bay will hit----pal Rob got a 31# king this August with a plug-cut herring just dangling  stationary over the side at 35ft while he was tying leaders....and it had the adipose fin.

That's a real nice rod. I like the anodized !. Okuma makes some  nice middle priced rods. My Okuma Celilo salmon rod is probably the best rod i've owned so far..
See ya on the water..

It's 7' 6"    Line WT: 10-30     Lure WT: 3/4- 2 1/2 oz.  It's a two piece with a nice supple tip but a pretty strong backbone. I have a Diawa Millionare 300 on it spooled with 15 pound Maxima.
