I have a Lowrance Elite-4 HDI unit.

If I turn on the FISH ID feature, the screen stops working.  It goes to white on the standard screen and to black on the DS screen.  The overlay data for speed, battery voltage, and water temperature continue to work, but the depth overlay goes to 0.0 and starts to blink.  If I turn off FISH ID, everything goes back to normal.

It was the first time I'd turned on FISH ID.

I'll be talking to Lowrance tech support today, but wondered if anyone else has seen this happen.

Hmm, I haven't seen that on mine.  However, Lowrance customer support is top notch and I'm sure they'll get you fixed up quick.

Funny you should compliment Lowrance...  Called this morning and was told I was a fool for calling in without having put the kayak back in the water to test if it's working (it is).  Doubt the guy heard six words I tried to say to him - including the part about testing it in 24-inch tall bucket of water.

When the wind dies down, I'll go test it again and call back.

Not a big deal, but calling in was a really, really bad experience today.

I would Ping "Fishingforthecure" on NCKA and see if he can assist, he's pro staff (or whatever they want to call it) for them and may be able to get you someone that can help if he doesn't know the answer.

Everyone has their bad days.  I've had good experiences with their customer service in the past.

Yeah, I'm not painting all of Lowrance - or Navico - based on one strange experience.
