Hey all, I have the day off tomorrow and am hoping someone would like to head out fishing from either PC or Depoe. I'm down for wherever but would like a fishing partner to show me the ropes of the area. I also have a question about the forecasts for Saturday and Sunday, which day is "better" for a newbie on his first ocean launch? I appreciate the help and anyone who would like to go fish!
(The first picture is for PC and the second for Depoe)

Secondary swells.... As the primary settles the secondary increases so it's deceiving, if there in the same direction and different timing you get swells that are equal to both numbers piping in on ya.

Does that mean it will be rough seas?

I guess I don't fully understand how those secondary swells factor in? On Saturday would the secondary and primary swell be equivalent to 5 feet at 7 seconds or remain at 3?  ???

The primary swell height plus the secondary swell height will likely roll in at intervals typically close to the longer swell.... Wind is also a big factor as it can create a swell of its own. If you join us in Tillamook we can talk more and you'll get a better understanding of wind waves as that's usually what we get in the bay.

To anyone that can see this, would you consider those swell and wind conditions dangerous for a first launch?

This is what I go to for weather, it's credible, and really simple. 2' wind waves, and 4' swells at 13 seconds looks good to me, I'd go. There is one other thing that's good to check to though, and that is the tides. If there is a strong swing the surf can get pretty hairy. This site is less complicated. Just look at the size of the swell, the wind, and how far apart the swells are. If the wind waves are 2', or less, the swells are less than about 6' tall, AND AT LEAST 10 SECONDS APART, then I make the drive to get a closer look.

Anyone headed out tomorrow morning to PC? I think I'll make the trip but would like a fishing buddy!
