Ok gears cleaned dry and put away.... Belly is full,,, ZZZZZZZZZ.

Hit the beach and watched the surf for a bit with heliumhead and decided to go for it. We met Casey, forgot his forum name already.  It was a little steep on the rollers but not much in the way of wind so we started timing the doubled up waves ( we had no cape protection today). I shot for it and caped the first one in white water and as the second one was coming I kicked it a little harder and topped the swell right as it started to crest and missed the roll by about 2 tenths of a second. Turn around and see no heliumhead ??? Circle around and see him standing next to his yak in the water lookin like he forgot something ( he can post that up) if he wants. Once he cought up we trolled our way out in 60.5* water while watching a couple Wales surface. Fishing was S......L......O......W. We where out by the yellow can when I had something of good size scroll on the FF at 5 ft when I looked down I watched a nice 6ft thrasher swim under me headed towards heliumhead, that will get your blood flowing. Yelled at heliumhead to start peddling... Move now... Right now and get a confused why? Shark and he's coming towards you! We decided to head a little farther south. I finally nailed a little rock fish to avoid the skunk I kept it. Had a drive by from Crabbycabby (he went to the WAY DARK side but looks to be working for him. Then nailed a nice fatter fish. I started to head in and heliumhead headed over to the east side of the rock to fish a little longer with Casey. Landing was going to be fun..... Especially with surfers right next to the cape, ok I got this buttoned everything I wanted to keep down and peddle in till just before the breakers and flip around. With the larger rudder I don't take my paddle out of the holder and start working the peddles backwards. As the waves were getting closer I would peddle forward over them while counting the set the whole time....... Ok here's the flat spot kick it into full throttle backwards watching the FF 9ft ......6ft......... 3ft ,bail..bail..bail  feet wet and I'm on the sand, love the new rudder. Drug up and started de-rigging and then went down to help heliumhead land ...... Ok so I went down there with my iPhone video ready hoping to get a good yard sale/huli/spin cycle video ........OK SO SHOT ME its always funny when they go side ways..... And it's HILARIOUS when the lose contact with the seat of there yak. I'll let someone else fill in his experience, but remember you wait too long and I'll spill the beans! Had a great day disputed the lack of biting fish, glad you talked me into it heliumhead thanks.

It was a nice calm day out there. I forgot to zip my shoulder pouch, and dropped another phone in the water, that sucked. There were some great pics of Mojo, and heliumhead heading out over the surf, some wales, and some cool footage of a curious sunfish on that phone. It would have been great to share... My dad opted to stay at the beach. Chris, the guy on the trident 15 that spilled it on the way in caught a few black bass. I managed to catch a couple keeper lings, and a couple bass. The fishing was not fast.
It was a pleasure to meet you guys. Thanks for sticking around to watch us land. Please tell me you have some pics of my buddy Chris getting wet!

It was a great day on the water, unlike entry and exit :). I had timed my entry well enough but on entry, my pedals came loose, or not secure in first place.  As I was fiddling with it a thought crossed my mind, waves should be coming, just as they hit. Rolled.  Got reassembled and caught up with Mojo. Lost fish gripes and water bottle.

I knew the pedal latches were giving me problems, even mentioned to Mojo. Lesson: deal with problem on land, not in surf. The latches on my other Hobie work great.

I have been contemplating changing the previous owners battery installation. Rolling caused battery to disconnect and I was without fish finder. Lesson: if it can happen it will, deal with it on land ....

Coming in I was already in shallow water and should have got out but no, needed to ride it in further. Last wave got me sideways real fast and round and round I went. Broke my flagpole.

Weather beautiful, whales, meeting Casey, Chris and Crabbycabby, watching MoJo get his yak on plane when he spotted the shark and fishing just good enough to keep going with 5 nice black rockfish. Picture is us hanging around waiting for whale to surface.

Sitting at my desk today watching the rain made yesterday even more worthwhile. Thanks MoJo.

Fish gripes... I have a few like not enough fish for the amount of effort expended. Seriously, you guys make inspiring reports.  I think I am getting inspired to never make a surf launch/landing.

It was really cool to see you just get back on and head out after rolling! I've seen guys go back to the beach after dumping it on the way out. Way to not let it ruin your day, and thanks for sharing the pic!
