Thanks to ppmpete, alexb, code, lowsky, and other posters who shared their experience on how to instal a down-rigger. It really helps prevent costly mistakes when rigging a kayak for fishing.
I have a power boat (unused since kayak purchase) with 2 electric Cannon down-riggers. So for my kayak I used one of the swivel bases off the PB along with the supplied Cannon Lake-Troll QD base. This adds a little weight and height but it is marginal and allows more versatility to the install. It can even be switched to the other side if you have matching gear-tracks in the side-wells. I have tried it down to 75ft and it seems very comfortable ergonomically to use. I can crank the DR and the rod reel at the same time without removing the rod from the holder if needed to adjust depth etc. A benefit of using gear-tracks and a cutting board base is that if I want to move it forward I can. Although I might need a modified cutting board base, but they are cheap, as my wife is a dedicated thrift shopper and we have a good one 200 yds down the street.

I can't see your picture.  You need to download it to a service like Photobucket, and then insert the IMG code for the picture into your post.

I put a link to my facebook account as the upload crashed on the NWKA site. Can you see  pic if you click on the lower link?

I don't know what you did, but the video is now visible and available on your original post.  Your downrigger mount looks good!  Get out there and catch some fish with it!

Nice install, Tony. I'm gonna have to get a closer look for when I get mine going. Thanks for the post.
