Greetings
Nice to be here. Just retired 10 months ago and now want to fish lots more from my kayak. Grew up in Victoria, left 30 years ago, now retired here. I love it! Lots of nice water to fish also. Looks like I'll have to do some reading here on safety and fishing alone or not, and to find fishing buddies.

Congrats on your retirement -- kayak fishing will be a great way to squander your time!    ;D

Hey Tony: there are a few island fishermen on this board, including me. Congrats on your retirement! 13 more days of work for me before I pull the pin, but who's counting? We'll have to get together and wet a line.

Welcome Tony, I retired in April and am doing the kayak thing in Oregon after moving out of Seattle. My fishing buddies in Seattle and I have fished for many years on the island out of Port Hardy. Hardy bay might be a good place to try your luck, it's rather sheltered, has lots of salmon, and if you get to the bottom there are plenty of small brown rockfish.
