Hey everyone, my name is Brandon. Love all types of fishing, but most of all fishing from my kayak. I volunteer with Heros On the Water NW, and I am an instructor with Never Forget custom rods. I also enjoy building custom rods, and slowly starting a small business by doing so. I look forward to learning more, and sharing whatever knowledge I may bring to the table. Tightlines.

Nice to have someone building rods, there's a classified area to post.  You're missing a HOW in Hoodsport today.  Winds were pretty strong but there's a good crowd of tuff guys.  My kayak stayed on the trailer.  There's a few other new guys in the area and I'm in Kent, might be thinking about a get together at the Northwest or Half-Lion brewery a bit north of Spanaway, keep your eye's open for notes

Yeah ,Im bummed I missed the hoodsport event this weekend. I had to come to Florida this weekend for family matters, but brought my fly rods, so still going to wet some line.

Welcome. I would really like to get together with another rod builder and talk some shop over kayak rails or a beer.

Sure would be nice to find someone nearby to re-wrap and put new guides on a rod my dad built.  Quite a unique rod built from what he said was a copper WWII tank antenna.  May really be an alloy.

I would leave that one the way your dad built it and put it on a wall. I have one from my great uncle that is missing a guide but I can never bring myself to fix it. I kind of like it as is.

That is a good thought.  Over the years I've gone backa and forth over keeping it untouched.  I still use the rod when I can cause that's why he built it.  Tons of fun catching perch!

But the hardware is not high grade.  I surely don't want to turn it into a "my grandpa's old axe" story.
