I am thinking about taking a day from work to hit the Salt.  Forecast looks doable.  Any takers?

Aren't there gale warnings and small craft advisories all week for the entire coast, from Northern California through Washington?

That is not what magic seaweed is showing.  Winds seem to pick up later in the week.    Weather.com shows 8 mph winds.

Magic Seaweed has it at 3.5 ft every 8 seconds with 7-10 mph

You're right Zach.  It looks like a tomorrow has some real potential.  As with most winter ocean trips, check the forecast tonight and before you leave in the morning and then make your call once you're at the beach.

Wish I could join you!

Tuesday does look very good. Over the last few days, the primary swell direction forecast for Tuesday has shifted from almost due W to NW, which is great...if those conditions really show up. I'd make the drive if I could take the day off, and also be mentally prepared to settle for lunch and a beer at the pub if the conditions were at all sketchy.

I tried to check the beach cam, but it was offline:  https://www.capekiwandarvresort.com/Webcam.html

I will definitely have a back-up plan.  Last time i showed up it was too foggy to safely launch.

Thanks for the confirmations guys!  I am building a new salt rod but it wont be finished until this weekend.  O well at least i will hopefully get some fishing time.

I'm only curious because I may see Pacific City later this year, but what I'm seeing on Magic Seaweed for Tuesday is 3 foot primaries from the NW and 3.5 foot secondaries from the SSW with an offshore breeze.

When I see the direction of the primary and secondary waves perpendicular to each other, I think "washing machine" and don't make plans.

Is that too cautious for Pacific City?  If that stops me, will I ever think I might launch up there?

The marine forecast is directionally a bit worse than Magic Seaweed, but not by a lot.

I have been in similar conditions and do not recall it being terrible, however, i was catching lots of fish and don't get sick when i am catching fish. I am going to head there early in the morning at 7 and scout it out.  If it is good then i will be on the water by 8 -830.

Well something came up and I have baby duty on my day off  :(.  The conditions are even better than they were this afternoon.  I am drooling over it.

Shoot man. Conditions look as-advertised on the webcam. I was hoping you'd make it. Next time!

Daannnngggg!  Pacific City looks like a lake this morning!  Yet, not one kayak or dory to be seen.  There were two commercial boats out with lights this morning before sunrise, but it's a ghost town now.  Missed opportunity.
