Working out of town for the last year has kept me from being active here, but I'm finally back.

The fishing has even close to non existent, due to the weather mostly. I did have an excellent month of steelhead fishing in January.

I got out to the reef with merz recently and that was fun. I definitely needed the salt therapy.

I've got some goals for 2017.

This year I'm going to try not to get obsessed with salmon and invest some time targeting fish I've never caught.

Striper, California Halibut, and Pacific Halibut are high on my priority list for the year.

Lower on the list-- Kokanee, Mackinaw, Umpqua springers.

I was thinking back on how exciting kayak fishing used to be. It used to be filled with lots of "firsts". First fish out of the kayak, first Chinook from the kayak, first time pedaling miles from shore, etc.
I miss that excitement, and I think targeting new fish will help rekindle those feelings.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi.
Here's some pics from 2017 so far.

Welcome back :)  (I'm new, though)  Love your photography.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Looks like you managed a good January.

Glad you've returned, Chris.  Missed your reports.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Oh good.  I was afraid that the shark came back and finished the job.

I'm glad you haven't been eaten by sharks yet!

You know I've got to hassle you about AOTY, right?  ;D

Glad you're dialed in to be able to fish more this year, although your success down where you were working was pretty cool too. With, apparently, no NA springer tourney, are you going to make it up here to fish anytime soon?

I like your goals. I am looking forward to your halibut videos. I know you've got it in you - it's going to happen!

Thanks guys.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the usual events this year.
Red Beard, I'll be up there this month some time and I'm hoping to get out for springers or sturgeon. I guess it depends on the river.
