Bass fishing 4/29

Hey guys, new guy here but not new to Kayak fishing or bass fishing. Anyone want to fish bass Saturday? I have my Coosa HD rigged and ready.

 I'm in Beaverton and happy to travel if anyone wants to get out and has suggestions. I like to throw big swimbaits, but I'll probably be in the tualatin river or on hagg targeting smallmouth if nobody wants to fish elsewhere.

I don't know if I will be able to get out this weekend or not yet but I'll keep it in mind. I've been wanting to get out to Hagg as well.

How big is a big swimbait for the bass you target in Hagg? Do they typically have lead heads on them?  How deep is the water where you catch them?  I know nothing about bass.

I can't really speak to Hagg specifically because I haven't fished there much, and I'm doing terrible on largemouth the last few years so I won't talk about that either, but for smallmouth in the rivers I like a variety of small-to-medium swim baits (see attached). I put mine on lead jigheads. The size varies to match the bait and for the depth or current I'm fishing (greater depth or more current usually means a heavier head). In general I use 1/8 to 1/2 oz. jigheads.

The pictures are Keitech and Yamamoto swimbaits. I also like Big Hammers and Cabela's store brand and knock-offs of all of these.

The bass at Hagg are a true enigma for many (myself included) so I certainly wouldn't begin there if you're looking into doing some bass fishing

I'm from San Diego originally, so I got used to throwing 8"+ swimbaits for bass all the time. I've done it from shore with marginal success, but big baits aren't a numbers game, it's a trophy game.

That said, I'll be Texas rigging creature baits for smallies when I get sick of getting skunked on big baits.
