!'ve been using the combination of the Hook-5 and a 1.5" RAM adapter (http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-202U-LO11) for a year.  Last time I used it, when I went to remove the finder from the arm, it just fell off, leaving the ball/adapter on the arm.

I can't get the finder to hook onto a RAM adapter/ball anymore.  I have a 1" and 2" adapter in addition to the 1.5" and it wont clamp onto any of them.

All of the adapters/ball fit perfectly onto my Lowrance Elite-4 so I'm willing to give the adapters a pass.

It's Saturday, Lowrance is closed, and I thought I'd ask if anyone has had this problem and if so, how'd you fix it?

GOOP it!

Well, maybe... after all else fails.  But thank you.   8)

GOOP is not permanent, but holds like it thinks so.  You can always remove the GOOP if you find a different solution.

I know.  I'm waiting to contact Lowrance.  The unit is under warranty, but if this isn't covered, I'll start trying to stick the parts together with GOOP.

Sounds like the retaining lip inside that hole on your FF head is broken and no longer retaining the catch on the RAM insert.  Feel around inside that FF - if you don't want to Macguyver it yourself with Goop, JB weld or a retaining screw, then you probably need a new FF head. Is your FF still under warranty? I would think that should be covered.

It appears Lowrance isn't in the mood to fix the case for free.  I took a hair dryer and needle-nose pliers to it and got those tabs back very close to their original position and the case will clamp down on the adapter.

Seems strong enough, nonetheless I GOOP-ed the lip of the case where the adapter rests anyway.  It pays to listen to INSAYN's advice...

So you're back in business.  Good deal!

I find in the kayak world that GOOP is your friend.  Works wonders in so many ways.
Very often used as a band aid for temporary fixes, that more often than not just get left that way as it doesn't need remedied further.
