I'm not saying the CG will definitely close the bar at a minus tide.  But it's happened to me before.  If you're in a pinch and show up to a closed bar, you can always bump north a few minutes and launch off Fogarty Creek beach.

If I get a salmon tomorrow, I'll immediately go buy some lottery tickets.  I just really like trolling for them, even if the odds of hooking up are remote.

Do you use a meatline or downrigger? Also, let me know if you want to come up in August, the forecasted Chinook runs where I'm at for the fall are pretty ridiculous.

Well, I get home from class to find out that my wife's fever has come back with a vengeance. Looks like no fishing for me tomorrow. Good luck all! I will just sit at home and watch my AOTY rating fall. I was up to number 2 briefly. I need to do some upgrading desperately, a nice kelpie would be some good points as well.

Sorry to hear it, drifter. Really nice day out. Couldn’t keep the cabs off the line. Got limits and left clay out there looking for flatfish.

It was a pleasure to finally be out on a "nice" day this year!  Gentle swells and almost no wind until the afternoon.  I spent the first couple hours of the morning prospecting some new water, dragging a big bait for lings.  The prospecting did not produce much, except for a couple small lingcod.  But once I returned to some of my favorite waypoints, it was Game On.  Lots of lingcod in the 22-24 inch range, which I released until I settled on a pair of 29.5 inchers.

I tried some flatfish drifts from 60 to 90 feet, but couldn't get a touch.  I think I need to go deeper next time, maybe out to 150 or so and focus on petrales.  I got a report from the Pac halibut anglers in NorCal, and they got into some excellent petrales at 180 feet yesterday, so it's reasonable to assume they'd be on a similar contour line up here.  On the way back in, I parked over some rockfish schools and dropped a 2 ounce jigging spoon on them.  Had fun CnR'ing around 15 or 20 blacks and a few blues, along with a couple more lings, before I headed back in.

No salmon sign whatsoever, so I didn't bother trying for them.  But some good signs of upwelling, with a lot of dark brown water just beyond the reefs.  Looking forward to coho season in a couple months!

All I know after this weekend is that if anyone tries to serve you a pizza with fresh seabass pan fried in butter with s&p, garlic, Italian seasoning, topped with green olives and it isn't called a Ling Banger they are straight up frontin' and not representing.
