Hey everyone, has any one fished any of the lakes over the pass in Washington recently? Planning a day trip to Banks Lake on Sunday (4/1/2018) for some early walleye fishing. Just wanted to see what the condition/weather's been like over there. Haven't really fished for walleye before. Any suggestions on the tackles and techniques would be great. Also, wanted to see if anyone wanted to meet up and fish. Maybe launch out of Coulee Play Land or Steam Boat State Park north of the Devils Punch Bowl. Probably be on the water by 7am and fish until 2pm.

Walleye start heading up Crab creek to spawn in April. Check YouTube videos on catching them right in Moses Lake as the move up crab creek. Not sure how active they are in the lakes this early.

Banks is my home water, I fished it tonight after work - I caught 3 nice trout.
The walleye fishing is just picking up, it is really hit and miss this time of year - one day you catch like crazy and the next day you can’t buy a bite. A lot of this depends on the weather and any fronts that are moving through.
I would launch from Barker Canyon, it is on the west side of the lake across from steamboat rock, and then fish Barker flats. When you hit a fish, pay attention to your depth and try to stay in that depth. I would troll a 2 hook harness, like a wallypop, baited with a full nightcrawler and use a bottom bouncer weight.
The other spot that is good this time of year, is across the lake from Coulee Playland.  There is a bay there that typically holds these prespawn walleye.
Troll slow, 1 MPH or less. The water temp was 37 tonight, fish are still a bit lethargic.
I may be up for a trip on Sunday morning.
If you have questions, shoot me a PM.
Good luck!

Let me know how the trip goes.   I am headed over to pot holes on the 13th.

Good luck.
Just remember.   Always better than a day at work!

Change of plan. The weather report is saying Sunday is supposed to be really windy area banks lake. So, I’ll be fishing there Saturday instead. Open invite to anyone interested. Will be launching north of the devils punch bowl.
