Hi All,

I find myself this morning through Sunday based in a house on the Columbia at Rowena on the Oregon side about a mile upstream from the mouth of the Klickitat. At a bday party for a friend with his windsurfing buddies, but brought my kayak and the gear I usually use in Puget Sound.

Does anyone have any basic guidance or advice? Regs, current conditions, gear, spots? Have perused WDFW sites but would love some advice.

Thanks!

You're a little early for good salmon and steelhead fishing.  The good news is the wind should back off for the weekend.  Smallmouth in the main river would provide the most action.  If you want to try for salmon or steelhead the lower mile of the Klickitat should have a few fish.  The best steelhead fishing at this time is Drano lake.

Thanks, that’s great direction. Picked up some bass gear today, but like the sound of lower Klickitat too and morning wind looks super mild. Much appreciated!
