My wife wanted to stop for the night in Tillamook so she could see the cheese factory. Since we are on our way back from our Idaho trip I have my kayak and all my fishing gear with me. Would it be worth getting a one day fishing license and trying to hit Tillamook bay for a few hours? Are salmon being caught right now anywhere around here? Any tips or places to go or launch the kayak from would be greatly appreciated.

What day? There are rockfish and crabs in the bay as well, I have 3 traps and might be going Wednesday.

Lots of salmon are being caught in other areas, but I do not think Tillamook is very hot yet. That one gets better later in the Fall.  Nehalem Bay would be a better bet this time of year in that area IMHO.   Or, if the Ocean is nice and you have all the necessary safety gear, go fish Pacific City. It is a surf launch though so check the conditions first.
