Revo 16 Project

After years of being dissapointed in my Jackson Cuda 14’s performance this summer I decided to upgrade the fleet. Rather than try to find a do everything/compromise everything boat like I did with the Cuda I decided to get two boats. I got a Pro Angler 14 for freshwater, duck hunting, halibut, and crabbing. Then this last week I picked up a Revo 16 I ordered from Outdoor Emporium for salmon, campimg in the San Juans, rough weather, and for fisheries where I needed to cover some distance.

I wanted to be able to clear the deck to be able to paddle effectively if needed, and I wanted to be able to use my 2 pole endorsement in it if I needed to loan the PA to a less experienced paddler.

I used a Scotty Depthking downrigger on a rotating base, on a removable right angle side gunnel mount. I put it in the side pocket on the right with big fender washers backing the nuts. So far the dry land tests with a 8 lbs ball show it to be remarkably stable.

A head of the DR I put a RAM mount for my fishfinder, and a spare 1.5” RAM ball to mount my Totalscan transducer if I want it. I put a downscan transducer in the Lowrance ready compartment. For the head unit I have a 5” or 7” Elite Ti. It is not clear if the 7” unit will get in the way yet.

On the left side I have two Scotty Gear Heads on rails. They are for a rod holder, and a Sotty Laketroller.

All the rails were the Hobbie rails that come with a full length backing plate. I also added a sail kit and furler, a seat bag, sail rudder, a daggerboard, and the deep bucket for the center hatch.

I mounted turbo fins and a leash to the drive.
