Just found out my usual powered shrimp trip is a no go due to a blown motor.  Considering bringing out the yak to chase some skrimps, is anybody else headed out or is everyone chasing halibut (which would be cool, too!)?  I usually do Dewatto on powerboat, but that's a feces show so wouldn't want to head there for yakkin, not sure where I'd hit yet if I go.  Maybe make it a long weekend and try hali for the first time and shrimp on the way back down...

I'd like to get some shrimp this summer, thinking of trying MA 11 or 13 as they are closest to my house.

I'm just curious how long do you soak pots for and how deep do you need to drop em?

If you want spot shrimp this summer will be far too late.  The season is usually open in MA 11 for four days in May, a few hours per day.  This year is unique in that next weekend it's open Friday/Saturday - usually it's a Wed/Fri season.

Depth, if you're around 300' you'll be in the range.  We usually soaked ours for around an hour.  First weekend seems like you can limit out in your first two pots, following weekend always seemed to be a little more work.

I won't be making the Canal this year, at least not this weekend.  I wouldn't mind trying in Canadian waters this year as last I'd checked their limit was ~200/day (vs. our 80), but dunno any of the logistics...yet.

Found an open spot on a co-worker's boat on Saturday for shrimping in the sound.  THis will be my first time and I am looking forward to it.  Gonna learn it this season on the PB, and gear up for next year off the PA.
