the ocean just hasn't provided us a Sunset Bay 'go' day yet this year, so Pepper and I hit the cribs area again on Thursday and crabbing is slow- I worked both sides of the submerged jetty and tried several depths to get just 7 keepers.  However, drifting the back of the jetty I landed 4 lingcod during the last hour of outgoing tide, kept the first two (23" and 24") and released 2 slightly larger lings, lost one larger ling after a lengthy battle.  No schools of black rockfish in the area but I took home one decent (11") copper.

anyone considering this area wants to be aware that just NE of the green #7 marker the outgoing tide current gets pinched (strong) and hits incoming swells from the mouth of the bay, you can avoid this area by crossing up farther from the #7 marker. I took a bit of video while negotiating this area fully loaded, new Outback is solid...after these trips, Pepper and I share a DQ chicken strip basket, she knows this and has decided that I take too long loading up....

Saw your vehicle, didn't see you (or Pepper).  Good job in the Bay!
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.
