I'm scouting on Google maps for launch sites...I think I see one just south of Port Ludlow.  I've never fished the area, but hope to this year.  Is that a legitimate launch on E Boat Dr.?  Any theft problems?
Thanks for any info.
Mark

What are you chasing after? I’ve fished it for 10 years. Cutthroat is good, salmon not so much any more. Triton cove state park is a good area for salmon and cutthroat out of the options.

Puget Sound

Again in 2019, fishery managers projected another low return of Stillaguamish, Nooksack and mid-Hood Canal chinook and took steps to protect those stocks. Notable closures of popular fisheries include: the San Juan Islands (Marine Area 7) in August; Deception Pass and Port Gardner (areas 8-1 and 8-2) in December and January; and Admiralty Inlet (Marine Area 9) in January.

I have a cabin 2 minutes from Hoodsport on the sound and fish it 80+ days a year. If you look at the creel reports last year, the catch rate was poor. It’s not a limit out every trip spot. I do well but it takes a long time to learn the area, and most do poorly that I’ve seen. Triton cove is your best bet fishing the west side of the sound. Stop making false claims to someone new, and getting them excited over nothing. Best chance is early in the morning top 20 ft of water. They cannot go deep here so they become very inactive after the first hour after sunrise.

Thanks for info.  I'll fish for anything legal...just wanting to explore new water.  Workhard's info on the nisqually delta has me pumped to give it a try this year.

I think I'll give this place a try soon for SRC.  Always nice to see new water.  Thanks for info.

I’ve had several 5+ fish days there between my wife and I, and I’ve never said I did bad. I said people that don’t know the area well usually don’t do well.  and I’m aware of the mess happening at the skokomish, and the restoration project... also I don’t see many people getting their limit regularly, which is what I’m use to growing up in Alaska.

Hoodsport is the spot for trolling along the shoreline. There is also some good spots north trolling up the shoreline from there. Remember the hatchery at Hoodsport has a restriction within a certain distance which escapes me.

Because it's such a great blackmouth spot. Not here to argue with sporties, taking my toys and leaving this thread. If anyone is looking for Hood canal information feel free to PM me.

Fish hard.

Ok non-sporty kayak fisherman, just throwing it out there for all the cutthroat fly fishing that goes on there right now.
