I have to make a quick trip to Seattle, this weekend- heading over Sat afternoon, picking up kid at 1:00 Sunday. Been thinking of fishing Sunday morning. The marine forecast is looking kind of snotty, so something inland would probably be a good idea. I've got to check the regs, but I was thinking of flyfishing the Sammamish Slough. Any takers?

I've got some fam and friends coming to town so will be busy with them. Sammamish slough sounds interesting. Although the south end of Lake Wash. isn't exactly on fire there are some decent fish coming out of there. Next time you're in town we've gotta go dino fishing... yeah.. dino. ;)

Z- Yeah, I want to figure out the local dino scene. I've got some ideas, just haven't had the chance to pursue them. I'll probably be back over for MLK weekend, this month, and then President's weekend in February. Maybe we can talk the Noggin Yakker into doing some pre-scouting, for us. ;D

yessnoo- Your 5wt should be just about right for the slough, which runs between the north end of Lake Sammamish and the north end of Lake Washington. I'm thinking of fishing the section near Bothell (sans boats). We'll have to do a little scouting, but I've seen some nice holes when biking the trail that runs along it. I'll PM my cell#. BTW, I'm use to noobs, so no problem there. 8)

Yep, yessnoo and I met up on Sunday morning. I had done a little pre-scouting for our float options, and we went with floating from Woodenville down to Bothell. There's a couple of creeks that enter the Slough along that stretch and I was hoping something would be hanging near the mouths. Compared to the -10F I saw the morning before,

Woodenville, at 32F felt relatively warm. yessnoo did practice cast while I set up the "drift" boat, but I didn't document his little mess. >:D

As reported, we didn't have any fish action. The water temp was in the upper 30s and I don't think I've fished this area since yessnoo was born :o, so I'm not exactly dialed in. We probably missed one of better chances by not hitting this tailout, below a creek mouth, harder.

Lots of joggers on the trail. Lots of birds in the water. I was cracking up, watching the ducks come flying (low) up the river, and then flaring when they saw us. I was under the impression the birds weren't use to seeing nuts in boats, on their home waters.

Here's my least favorite sight along the float- if I was a member of the enviro-police, this guy would get a severe tongue lashing and a hefty fine.

This summer, I may make a point of floating the section that passes by the Redhook Brewery and the Ste. Michelle Winery! ;D

Ya speaking of that boat...not only if i was a eniro-police...but if i lived across the river from that or even down the street i would have to say something about it...i mean come on not only is the engine (im sure full of oil and gas) under water but it looks like crap...and judging by some the expensive landscaping at some of the houses im sure there pretty pissed to see that when they look out the window

WOW! Before I moved to Ballard I lived 1 block uphill from that area of the slough. I always found it ironic that the poorest inhabitants have the best waterfront property???
The boat is truly an enviro hazard but I have always wondered about the JB insta-lawn sod farm. Riding my bike along the trail there I have seen tractors spraying chemicals on the grass and then during harvest they raise huge clouds of dust that drift over the slough and trail (no doubt carrying those sprayed chemicals through the air).
Water just runs off those fields into the slough too (look at me doing my impression of Al Gore) :-\.

I wonder if the mix of chemicals is what makes Redhook brew taste so fine! You know what they say about Olympia!
