I usually begrudgingly follow your advice at some point.  Better late than never.   :icon_thumleft:

I have a kayak trailer, but i never bring it to Pacific City. It is probably doable most of the time, but not worth the hassle (for me at least). I went to PC today, and ended up turning around and parking in the parking lot, as the the tide was so high and the beach parking that was left at 6:15 was already full. I would have definitely had trouble if I tried parking in the loose sand, and there wasn't enough room to get any speed.

Lots of good advice on this thread. I have a standard horizon radio and it has never failed me. Awesome battery life. I would definitely get the not floating version in the future to save size.

Big.

Really big swings right now.  Some nonsense about planets aligning with the moon or some other astrophysical silliness.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

I pull a trailer for my kayaks. I recently upgraded to a heavier trailer (it also has bigger tires than my last trailer, though.) I've only been to PC once so far this year, but I've talked to a few folks that have been out there more than I have.

It seems the sand is really bad at PC this year. When I went I saw 4 or 5 dory boat rigs get stuck in the morning - they were all helping pull each other out. I've never gotten stuck at PC, and I still haven't, but it was pretty close and I parked farther away than I wanted to. If you get in a jam lower the pressure in your tires to 20psi or lower and you can usually get moving. As others have said, you can just park in the parking lot too, honestly it only adds a bit of exercise to the equation.  ;D

I'm not trying to discourage you from going on the sand, just giving you information. Looks like right now it's low tide in the morning which is nice for finding packed sand to get up some speed on before parking.

Yeah that is what I am nervous about.  Definitely hitting Depoe first just to minimize the complications.  I dont want to have to worry about getting stuck in the sand when I am just a bit nervous about going out in the salt for the first time.

My first time in the open ocean was at Depoe Bay.  I went with a few friends that were experienced in the salt.  No surf launch to worry about and if the SHTF the Coasties are a few minutes away.  I would definitely suggest Depoe for your first time too.
