I'm thinking about trying to put together a kayak fishing weekend on Davis Lake sometime in early June.  This is a mid-sized lake in the Cascades, fly fishing only, not too far from Bend, that was once the site of a fantastic fishery for big bruiser trout.

Some genius decided to dump a few buckets of large mouth bass into the lake a decade ago, and today it is positively infested with them.  To the point where ODFW is considering various management options for trying to control them.

Lake usually becomes accessible after the snows melt in late May/early June, about the same time the bass stage to spawn.  Would there be much interest from others on this board for braving the mosquitoes for a weekend early June and attempting to make a dent in the bass population?  You'd need a 5-8wt fly rod (6-7 wt is ideal) some poppers, and some big wooly buggers/streamer type flys.

I plan on doing a trip or two there this year myself, but I'd be willing to try and coordinate a larger gathering if there is interest.  And beer-battered bass fillets and hush puppies would be mandatory.

Sounds intriging 3wt.  I'd really like to take a week and visit a bunch of central Oregon lakes this summer for everything from bass/trout at Davis to lake trout at Odell and/or Cresent.
