It is awfully quiet re: Tillamook Bay Chinook. No rain. Super low rivers. Prime time. I am heading down this weekend. Will I see another Kayak there? Once it rains the kayak opportunity will be limited.

I lived there a ways back with a PB and these conditions with a holdover tide was what I dreamed of. Tides not perfect, just looking to see if anyone else is heading to TBay

Good luck this weekend. I would't call it prime time though....Fishing has slowed considerably in the past two weeks (with colder water temperatures). I was out there on Sunday. Trolled the Ghost Hole for a few hours with no action for me and I also so no action for the 12-15 power boats around. No other kayakers. After that I returned to my car to grab two pots for some crabbing in Crab Harbor. The crabbing was decent (and surely not great), and I did bring some crab home. On the way back to the kayak launch (around 1 pm) I talked to a few fishermen in boats who had been trolling since first light. They also hadn't seen a single fish caught. For what it is worth: according to some folks the Coast Guard Station is a better bet at the moment for salmon than the Ghost hole.
Weather was fantastic on Sunday and it almost felt like late summer. So I had a great time regardless of the slow bite. I hope the bite turns on again and you see action this weekend!

Note that Garibaldi has a new tourist attraction: an old fishing boat that hadn't left the docks in years, started leaking and finally sunk. It was pulled from the bottom and is now occupying the majority of the parking lot at the kayak launch behind the fish cleaning station. There is only a few parking spots still accessible. Quite a few people stopped by to take some pictures. I believe the plan is to take the boat apart at its current location. So it will take a while before the entire parking lot can be accessed again.

I had a non kayak crabbing weekend with buddies last weekend and didn't see any nets fly the whole weekend. Per the marina they saw one fish Saturday and one Sunday, for the number of boats that were pursuing it I would have expected quite a bit more, It doesn't mean the fish aren't there, just that it's slow.

On another note the crabbing was mediocre, 5 legal crabs for 4 hours pulling rings, tons of just undersized males though so it should be good here in time.
