I'll be staying in the Salem and Corvallis area in the weeks before and/or after Thanksgiving, working on stuff relating to my father's estate, but will have time for recreation.  What kinds of kayak fishing opportunities will be available in western Oregon and on the Oregon Coast around that time?

Kokanee and trout in Detroit Reservoir.
Chinook, rockfish, crab in Tillamook Bay.
Lake Trout in Crescent (on Willamette Pass)...pretty sure that's open year round.

I haven't decided yet. The fishing opportunities will affect when I decide to come, because when I do the estate stuff is flexible.

I'm going to be gone around Thanksgiving but available after 11/29 if you want to go steelhead fishing. That would be from the bank. Otherwise, good luck.

Getting too cold for my hip to peddle but the bays always got crabs and fish, now getting them to bite is a whole different story.

Watch the surf reports.  Today would have been an awesome day to be on the ocean.  There are often nice periods in the winter months that a person could get out there.

I'll be getting to Salem on November 20 or 21, and will be staying there until some time after the Thanksgiving weekend. My schedule is completely flexible except for some family stuff on Thanksgiving day and the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, so if the weather and waves are good, I'd like to try to do some fishing.  I'm particularly interested in sturgeon, salmon, and ling/rockfish fishing, but it's all fun.

While in Salem if you just want to get out someplace close for a couple hours there will be big fat brood trout in a lot of the ponds around Salem at that time. I’ve been having a lot of fun catching those over the last couple of years. I personally wouldn’t eat one, but they are fun to catch.
