I guess the odds are against the Makah Reservation opening up to outsiders before halibut opens & closes? Can't blame them one bit.

As of May 11, 2020, the Makah Tribal Council has extended the Tribe’s Shelter in Place Order until June 30, 2020. The Makah Reservation and Neah Bay remain closed to all visitors.

Good thing we don't need to launch on the Makah reservation to find halibut in the Strait.

I'm struggling to find information about the halibut season; all I'm finding is:
https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/halibut/puget-sound
https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/halibut/north-coast

I didn't know it was already open. Is it already open? The above links contain 'preliminary' dates. Looks like halibut will close on 27JUN2020?

Ddit: seems halibut is still closed - sorry if my confusion confused anyone else!

All freshwater fisheries will open May 5, as will Puget Sound saltwater fisheries (Marine Areas 5-13), except for halibut, shrimp, and intertidal shellfish harvesting, which remain closed statewide.

I just got back from Sportco to buy a bunch of halibut gear... Figured they're going to sell out.

June 6 and 7 is free fishing weekend in WA..... being an OR resident and WA not selling non resident licenses... makes me wonder if this is my best chance this season to get after halibut.

Looking at google earth, Salt Creek Rec area, Twin Beach, and Pillar Point, all provide access to deep water about 3 miles out.

My digging around shows that as marine area 6 open on june 7 to halibut.

Anyone have any experience launching at any of those locations?

I think you still have to buy a halibut catch card for halibut.  How's that going to work for non-resident?

let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Both times I've tried this year have been slow.
