I have never gone out of Depoe in my kayak and looks like tomorrow will be good. I can do PC no problem and have been looking at getting some bigger lings seems the last few times I went to Depoe in my big boat that they were a little bigger than PC.

I'm glad my wife let's me fish still  ;)

I was eyeballing also going today, only decided not to because of working until midnight last night. PC has some decent ones you usually just have to go a little farther out. Tons of rock piles out in 170ish FOW that I picked up on trolling for salmon last year. Grabbed a few decent lings on the next few trips out!

I went.
Ocean was a little snotty, not bad.
Out to the first buoy and then south.
Threw back 3 nice lings, about a 6 pound cabbie, and a single black rockfish.
Guys in a pb close by were being hammered by cabbies, I think they went 7 in a row.
Pretty good number of yaks out today.

Two buddies and I launched from Fogarty this morning. Tons and tons of bait up there and over Government Point, mostly consisting of small anchovies and shrimp. All the fish we caught were stuffed with bait. Good sign for salmon season! I tried trolling for Chinook for about an hour, but no love.

We limited on lings into the low 30 inch range, but it took some work.

I have not fished but looked at the Nestucca Fly Fishing webcam of the rock this morning and counted about 15 kayaks mid-morning.

Thanks for the reports but went to Pacific city yesterday. I usually get a full stinger but had a hard time getting the black's yesterday but got my normal 25" lings. I saw more boats and kayaks than I have ever seen and they all looked like they were struggling to get there fish. A few guys did get there fish and they were in deeper water out by the buoy. Bring your wheels and be ready to hike I hope they let us drive on the beach soon, and don't even think about going later because the lot fills up really fast.

I too went out of Depoe. First time out in the ocean since all the COVID shit hit the fan. I was careful to not get too close to people, filled up my gas back home and didn't use any public bathrooms. Man it was awesome! I'm loving being able to get out on the ocean again, and being on the yak just feels like you're right down there in it.

Went south and sorted through maybe 20 blacks to get some solid fish for my limit. But I was struggling with lings. By 11:30 I was thinking I'd go back with one 23" ling. Hooked the bottom and was thinking if I break off, I'll call it a day. Did a few circles around the rock trying to get the right angle to get free and no luck. Finally, I said screw it and went to break the line and the thing popped off and was attached to a solid keeper ling! Hell of a way to end a really nice day! I fished 30-70 fow.

When do people start fishing in earnest for ocean salmon around Depoe? I'm super excited to try that out.

It's pretty sweet when you think you've hooked bottom and it turns out to be a fish  ;D.

Most of the salmon fishing in Depoe doesn't kick off until hatchery coho season opens, which this year opens June 27. In general, coho are more abundant and easier to catch than Chinook here, so your odds of taking fish home are significantly better when coho are open to retention.

My hands are getting shaky and my mind running wild just thinking about that weekend coming up. Just around the corner.

Excellent, thanks for the info Clayman. I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

That is an excellent webcam which had escaped my notice until now. Thanks for the tip!

Had also not heard of this webcam until now. It won't load for me at this moment but will definitely be checking back in on it
