First off, no - this post is not about sexual deviants. Rather, it pertains to the practice of attaching flashers to a downrigger ball, thus leaving your line un-encumbered by the flasher when you're fighting a fish.

Is anyone using this method from a kayak? I'm thinking about running an inline flasher directly off of my DR ball, and then connecting my downrigger release to the top of my bumper. I realize that most people attach their downrigger release farther up when using this method, but I'm afraid that would make it harder for me to get my ball into my boat when I'm fighting a fish.

One thing that I'm not sure of is the length from the downrigger release that I should have my lure - either the standard 40-60 inches that usually separates a flasher from the lure, or further? Any insights would be appreciated.
