Tillamook Bay 8/13

Planning on fishing the bay on Thursday. First time going out on the salt, been on a few lakes and have the gear needed. Will be going with another person. Any ideas on where to start. Want to drop crab pots in and then go for some fish. Tips?

The tides are not right for rock fish, 0300 low tide would mean 0200-0230 launch to get to the jetty. You can’t fight the inbound tide in the “narrows”. We launch 1-2 hours before low tide. Salmon are being picked up at the jetty but I’m not sure if there running up mamaluse or the ghost hole haven’t seen anyone trolling the ghost hole.
  If it were me I’d salmon fish the Nehalem if that were my fishing day. But if your set on Tillamook Bay you could drop pots at crab harbor and then troll in front of the coast guard’s boat house or the ghost hole. I’m guessing your not familiar with the area though?
