PC was like a lake today. I was on at 6:30 and off at 9:00. I hunted around and only got 1 black rockfish and a limit of crab. The water temp  dropped to 45 degrees in the last few weeks.

Looked like the winds, and possibly the swells, will be up this weekend, unless I’m looking in the wrong place.

I plan on trolling the Columbia at Davis Bar tomorrow. Launch from Blurock Landing. Conditions are not ideal with a low tide around noon and wind being stronger than i like it (albeit manageable if the forecast is correct). Launch around 10 am so that the worst of the outgoing tide is over. Obviously welcome to join!

I’d rather be fishing!! Installing wood flooring in our 5th wheel/home. Looking like Tillamook bay next Sunday for longer range plans though. Good luck guys, I’ll be awaiting fish porn reports between my cursing and yelling.

The Willamette is far better.  The rocks around George Rogers Park and along the banks of the river and islands in that stretch down to West Lynn (and beyond) and up to Milwaukie are great for bass.

Bad pic but it was one of the few I saw. 3 minutes in the water I hooked and landed a micro coho and let it go.  3 min later landed this small-ish chinook. 7-8#. 5 hours later managed to work on my tan. Looking pretty tasty in any case. 70 degrees, no wind, limit of crabs off a dock. Could be worse!?!?

Any luck? Planning on hitting the Columbia at some point this week. Never fished there, usually fish by the mouth of the Lewis which is a bit more of a drive.

Nope. I went to Davis Bar as planned on Saturday. It turned out to be a nice day with less wind than forecasted. There were two other kayakers out there. One left with a nice chinook. I saw or heard of a few fish landed, but it was not really hot. I had one take down that I thought "didn't stick" but when i reeled in I found to my surprise that the line had snapped just about my prawn rig. It simply must have snapped on the sharp teeth of the fish (the fish surely didn't pull that hard that the line broke due to force). I guess my own stupidity for fishing (too) light. Not sure if 20 or 25 lbs leader.
I ended up tying new rigs, 30 lbs this time, on Saturday evening and actually went to the mouth of the Lewis on Sunday (indeed more of a drive). A HUGE crowd of boats and slow fishing considering the number of boats out there. I personally like Davis Bar more (although i did hear from a friend who was out there in a power boat that Sunday was very slow at Davis Bar). Launch from Blurock is very convenient. I may be out there again Fri, Sat or Sun (the remaining three days before they close this section of the Columbia).

Thanks for the report! I may see you out there. I am planning on taking Friday off to fish and then decide on the weekend which I am guessing will be a zoo. The smallish Chinook I landed on the Nehalem Sunday did a number on the 25# Flouro leader I was using. Landed it but the leader was frayed badly.  Just ordered some 40# Seaguar flouro and will be redoing all my fall gear.
