Picked up a 7ft medium power Daiwa Harrier casting rod from fish field on Black Friday sales (65 bucks which seems like a great deal). Trying to figure out what reel I want to pair it with and curious what others have done.  Using for near shore bottom fish.  Thinking a cold water low profile but maybe even just a saltwater rated low profile reel.

My 300LPHS should arrive this Wednesday... Going to spool it up with 30lb depth-hunter. Looking forward to it; will be my first low profile reel for saltwater.

I've been using low profile bass reels in saltwater for 20 years. Make sure you keep the bearings oiled to prevent corrosion, and to rise it off after every use, again to prevent corrosion.

Yeah those new LP Penn look pretty nice.   I dropped a lexa LC100 on it and a Coldwater LP 354.  Definitely felt better with the Daiwa reel.  More balanced, size felt right, not that the Okuma is huge by any means.   With in-shore fishing being 120 ft or less it seems like a 100-size reel could work easy enough especially if you put 30 or 50 lb braid on there and would have plenty of capacity still.
