Hey everyone, haven't posted in a bit. I fish PC and Depoe a bunch, but this year I want to start venturing a bit further south (Depoe is the furthest south I've fished on the pacific coast thus far). Any southern Oregon Coast kayak anglers on here that would be willing to take me a long on one of their outings? Good campsites you're willing to share? Just trying to get a little more diversity in my outings.

Look up the Sunset Bay Angler of the Day tournament near Coos Bay.  The tournament is August 28 with good camping nearby.  Really fun tournament and a good chance to learn a new area.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

+1 for Sunset Bay.  Its a great spot and if you go for the AOTD there will be a good group of folks to hang out with too.  If the ocean isn't cooperating you can still fish Coos Bay for rockfish and lings at the sunken jetty and/or troll for salmon.

Here is the information from the Facebook page:

We are pleased to announce that Sunset Bay Angler of the Day Kayak Fishing Challenge will be held August 28th 2021.  The launch site is Sunset Bay State Park. The fishing area is from Baltimore Rock to Simpson Reef. A detailed agenda and tournament rules will be forthcoming in a separate posting, however no changes are expected from previous years.  The tournament starts at first light, and the weigh-in ends at 2:00 pm . This is a points per inch per species tournament. Prizes will be given for the top competitors. The first 50 entries will receive a captain’s bag. Registration confirmed upon payment of registration fee of $35 sent via paypal to: browneyesvictim@yahoo.com.  (Please be sure to pay using friends and family option).  This is a charity fundraiser to benefit Heroes On The Water (Portland Chapter).  There will be a potluck dinner and awards ceremony in the evening of the tournament at the Bastendorf group site shelter (not the day-use pavilion). We will host a fish fry of the donated days catch, but please also bring a dish to share for the potluck.

The group camping site and shelter has been reserved at Bastendorf County Park. Contact Stephen Hatler at (541)991-6050 if you would like camping accommodations/reservations in the reserved group site camping area at Bastendorf. There are 12 spots available at the time of this posting.

Hope to see you there! Good luck!
