Hi all,
Moved from Tennessee a few years back and looking to get into some fishing out here.
Thanks,
Coca

Welcome!

What species would you like to target?  Lots of lakes, rivers, and salt water around here with multiple opportunities and species, but can be a challenge interpreting the regulations.

Welcome to the NWKA Coco.  This is a great place to help you get into salt fishing.

Thanks all, good part of the country to be in for sure.

Bentrod - yeah the regulations are a lot different than TN that's for sure. I'm slowly swapping my favorite tackle to barbless/single hook for selective gear areas. I really want to catch some ling cod after going on a charter, but I'm sticking to lakes until I get a larger kayak. I've got an older tarpon 120 that's great for smaller water, but I wouldn't feel comfortable too far out with it in the Sound. I used it a bit around Florida, but that's like flipping into bathwater.

I've yet to catch a salmon, tiger muskie, or sturgeon, and they are all species I want to land at some point. I'm going to try for some pinks from the shore on the Puyallup in a few days when it opens up.

Your Tarpon would be find for the Sound down around Tacoma (weather dependent of course).  This time of year hitting the water in the morning and fishing the points is a great option.  Water is usually calm and you're not standing elbow to elbow with all he beach anglers.  The Pinks are running this year (every other year on odd years) and it's a great time to get out and catch some salmon.  They're not big, but they fight well.
