Heard from a few sources that chinook have entered the Nehalem Bay and people have had pretty good results.

I'm planning to head there tomorrow (Sunday, 9/05) to troll for salmon. Plan is to launch at Wheeler, drop my crab pot somewhere and then troll for salmon.

Planning to get there around 6:30 AM and launch between 6:45 to 7. I'll also be monitoring channel 69.

Good luck Bob!
I wish I could go with ya, for sure will when I get back from my trip.
Well, you're certainly due for a salmon or two!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I'm in. I had good luck there for Chinook about a week and a half ago and I think things have improved since then. I've got an ancient blue outback (kayak) and a newer white forester (car).

Hopefully I'll see you out there. I'm rocking a grey Subaru Forester; tan 12' Tarpon with red paddle blades.

Nothing but endless floating weeds. Had to pull and clean my trolling gear every 3-4 minutes. For five hours.

Heard of a few fish that were lost in the river (about a mile from Wheeler) before it completely died. Those were most likely coho, if I had to guess.

Not sure how the boats at the jaws did. Saw about a dozen out there.
