Greetings.
A friend from Idaho and I are looking to camp and fish Brownlee later in the month.
I have not fished it by kayak yet and would like to find a place to camp and fish for a couple days.
I will be taking my own shade and pretty much all that I need to be off grid if necessary.

Hoping to find a good selection of fish. Would like to bring home some crappie.
It would be fun to night fish for cat fish in camp.

Also, are there any good locations to use for weather forecasts in the area?

Thanks in advance.
I will post up our experience and maybe some pictures when we get back.

The best time to fish Brownlee is May 21.  While you are there that day join the Brownlee Crappie Shootout.  It is centered on the Powder river arm just out of Richland.
The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

We have the Shootout on May 21 but if you are looking for another place to camp you can try Moonshine launch/Swedes Landing area. It's about half way between Richland and Huntington. It's 40 from town to town on the Snake River road. It's gravel but not terrible. Lots of places to pull off and camp along the way. Some vault bathrooms and blue houses are located along the road. On the Idaho side, Woodhead is a nice park. You can also fish and camp along Oxbow and Hells Canyon reservoirs which are located not far from Richland. Pretty much all species everywhere so it shouldn't be a problem to find multiple species.

For weather, I it depends on what area you will be fishing. Huntington, OR for the upper res and river down to the cemetery area. Richland, OR for the Powder River arm. Cambridge, ID and Oxbow, OR for Lower res Woodhead/Swedes area as well as Oxbow res and Hells Canyon res.

Brownlee can get nasty fast if the wind is coming from down river. If you do get caught in the wind or a storm. try to make it to the side of the res that you are camped as fast as you can then work your way along the shore to camp.
