I'm guessing there is a story that goes along with this...

This is all we know from kykfshr's AOTY entry... 28" long, caught on Feb 19th and "North Coast Steelhead tricked with bobber and jig."

If anyone feels like making up a story for kykfshr I could use a fishing report right about now (even a fake one).

Thanks for noticing.  Here goes, a report from fishing on the coast last week.  The river was low (summer flow) and very clear.  Lots of fish even some dark salmon swimming around.  The fish were all holding in the deeper pools. Because of the water clarity, I fished at first light or just before sunset.  I parked the Yak in about three feet of water and started to work my bobber and jig through the pool.  First cast was to the center of the river, the bobber hits the water.  Immediately a steelhead darts from across the river towards my bobber.  He then attempts to eat my bobber, spooks himself turns and is gone.  This happened twice and was fun to watch.  I reel in, give some thought to putting a hook on the bobber. Decide to switch to a clear bobber.  after ten minutes of tossing, bobber down, then bobber back up again.  A Dark Coho was interested in the ez eggs on my #4 hooks below the bobber. it took them in the mouth turned and then spit them.  Not interested in the dark fish.  reel in and go with my favorite steelhad jig for this river.  Work the drift for about twenty minutes.  The bobber disappears, fish on. This one gives me a nice air show with multiple acrobatics before sealing its fate in my net.  It's starting to get dark, have to call it a day.

Next morning, pack the Yak down the trail in darkness with the assistance of a headlamp.  As soon as its light enough to paddle, I'm anchored up and tossing my bobber and jig.  Five minutes later,  my bobber is buried, gone.  I set the hook and the fish starts to peel some line.  This one is a runner.  We play tug of war.  She is starting to tire, so I show here the net. one last big run upstream this time causing the Yak to turn. I wrestle her back to me and into the net she goes. fished for about 20 minutes more, then did some exploring recon.  Promised to be back by 9AM. Called it a morning, went home and made pancakes for the family.

Nice fish and thanks for the story Scott.  Although it still might have been fun to have others write you a fake report or two.
