First day on the ocean

Over a year and I finally made it out of sunset cove yesterday morning.  Buying the new compass it took a while to get it rigged and ten trips on lakes and rivers to gain confidence.   Perfect day for my first ocean trip, no wind, another kayak launched with me and we fished together all day.  Simpson reef really is an amazing place.  Nice having the electric drive on the way back. Went home with a Cabezon and a black for dinner!

big mistake, now you're going to spend your days staring at surfline and trying to calibrate primary and secondary swells with the wind direction and tides.  All just for a little tug from a feisty lingcod.

No I've had this addiction  as a small child, I've always judge my life by the quality of fish I  catch.  Cabs are one of the very best eating. Ocean fishing in a hobie is kick ass! Next stop port orford.
