PC Salmon report 8/25

I read that today was gonna be flat and nice. Nope. Choppy and then the wind kicked up and there were big swells and whitecaps. I caught a native just past the rock headed west. I circled back and went through the same spot and nailed a hatchery. Then the wind really kicked it up a notch and I almost went in. I was hardly seeing any fish caught and all the boats were clustered. I dropped deeper and got a couple bites. Then fog rolled in and I decided it was not a good idea to stay out. Trolling back I caugh my second hatchery right by the rock on the south side.

One other kayaker I spoke to limited out. He told me he talked to a boat. And they had 16 fish but only one hatchery. Anyway, if tomorrow and Sunday are actually nice days, should be good fishing.

As a side note, a kayaker flipped and could not get back in and had to be helped by Doryman. Thank goodness for the dory boats. He was with a more experienced kayaker who was about to help him get back in. I talked to the experienced guy and he said his friend was new and had practiced flipping etc on a lake. I guess it was no substitute for the ocean. In his defense today was knarly.

I was watching the webcam this morning, ahead of a planned trip for Sunday, and was surprised to see how choppy it was. Looked like a washing machine and surely not the flat surface i expected to see....

I caught the first two fish early at 17 pulls with 8 ounces so they were close early. They stopped biting and I thought it was cuz of chopping rough weather cuz I saw no nets flying. But I went to 14 ounces and 40 feet and got some bites and eventually caught number 2 keeper.
