Ocean looked like a lake as we headed out under the bridge. Started out looking for springers, and trolled up to Government pt. I picked up a decent ling on my trolled herring, and Daniel got a black on his mini cut plug.

Then we saw probably 200 pelicans and various other birds diving like crazy about a mile east, and went over there as fast as we could. Just as we arrived, the birds stopped diving, and didn't even mark whatever bait they were feeding on, let alone any predatory fish. We headed back towards the point and as soon as we dropped down, it was a lingcod bonanza. We were getting em almost every drop for a while.

Was mostly using big baits n lures, so didn't get many rf.

I ended up catching 18 lings for the day, only 2 weren't legal, only kept the biggest one, a 30"er. Got 5 blacks, kept a 17 and 18". Also landed 3 cabs, one was tiny, one was very decent, and one may be a PB, but didn't actually measure because I wanted to release it asap.

Daniel got 12 lings, including an impressive 37" 20#er, 5 blacks and a chunky greenling. The fish checker said his ling was the biggest he saw all day. He also said a guide boat had caught 2 nook yesterday, but way out in 250 FOW. I did see one jump in about 70 FOW.

Got a lil breezy, but swell was almost non-existent.

All in all, a very fun and productive day.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?
