Allen,
Sorry to hear that you got skunked. However, since I'm not the only one getting skunked, it makes me feel like I might actually be doing some things right and just in the wrong place, wrong time, ...

How often do others get skunked vs catching something?

Depends.  If I'm fishing new water, skunks happen more often (more than 50% of the time?).  If I'm fishing know water, it happens less.  The Forebay is home water to me in the winter down in CA.  My skunk rate is more like 10% there, which makes this weekend sting a bit.   >:(

I've been sicker than a dog, since Sunday evening.

It was -6F this morning, and supposed to be -10F tomorrow. Not much fishing happening in my neighborhood.

I put in near 5 hrs trolling the Channel on Sunday with nothing to show for it.  Weather was wild.  Started out dead calm and sunny but in typical spring fashion, before the day was over, I weathered rain, snow, hail and some insane wind gusts.
Now that I've paid my dues, I'll be posting a springer any day now.
