After chatting with some of you guys at the paddling class last week, I realized that my next purchase should be a good dry top to put over my waders.

I found a good deal on an Extrasport Semi Dry top (70% off). It has gotten great reviews from the site I'm considering buying from.

Do any of you have experience with these? What exactly does Semi Dry mean? The reviews I read said that it fits small, and I'll probably be layering underneath, so should I buy a larger size?

Anything helps.

No experience with that one but if you plan on fishing cold water get a dry top. Semi just means that some of the seals are not water tight and can let water in. No matter what dry wear you get you need to layer underneath. A dry top/suit will do what it says but won't keep you warm at all.

The only problem with it is that the only color left is pink. YUCK!  ;D

I ran with a semi-dry top and pants setup before I bought my drysuit. The semi-dry thing means that the collar is neoprene instead of rubber, so it's not a complete seal. It works well enough to get you out of the water and back in the boat but isn't 100% dry. I agree wholeheartedly that fleece underneath is a must. My recommendation on fitting is to take your layer with you to try the top on.
I used mine on flat water and in the river. My only complaint was a little bit of water got in between the top and pants in the river and trickled down the nether regions.  :o Probably not going to happen with waders.

Just bought online today. Saved myself $160 off retail at STP.

I'm planning on practicing entering/exiting my yak once the shirt arrives.

Sounds like a great deal.  Care to share the site you found this deal at?

It's called Sierra Trading Post. I wasn't sure what the rules were about posting names.

I usually check STP before I make any purchase. Lots of times I might not get the color I'm looking for, but the price difference is worth it.

Lots of kayaks on sale now, including some OK models.

Thanks for the link, I should have known, I usually check Sierra Trading Post and Campmour for bargains firsts when I do online shopping for sporting goods.

Regarding the rules for posting... we're currently no where as strict as IFish.  In fact we don't have any rules regarding it.  We just ask that you consider our sponsors, they've been good to us.  We also ask that if you are simply posting a deal you find without any "product discussion" that you post it in the classifieds section.  If this site get's as big as Ifish, I suppose we reserve the right to get strict with our "terms of service".  Until then, enjoy your freedom.
