I just noticed that there is going to be a segment on Kayak fishing on Oregon Field Guide this evening (8:30). Are they featuring anyone from NWKA?

I don't think that there's anyone from NWKA on there... although the guy on the clip said he's been yak fishing for 'fifteen years' so I guess it's possible... knowing my luck he'll post right after me! HA! If he does I'd like to add nice ling! I liked the clip - it really got me itchin to get out on the salt. I like Oregon Field Guide too, they talk about a lot of interesting Oregon topics. You can watch a lot of their episodes online too(http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/).

That is the same kayak clip that they ran last fall.  The folks on the video have since posted on here, but only briefly.

I still like watching the story, even though it is a repeat.  I think the real story is the location they were catching the fish at.  I only caught the last 10 minutes, were they at Devils Punchbowl?  Nice conditions on that day!!!

It's funny how he was talking about a "rumor" of sea lions grabbing fish. I knew a guy who caught his first yellowtail from a yak, was dragging it in the water on his way back in and was flipped not once, but TWICE by a sea lion that made off with his catch while all his gear went to the bottom. He probably shouldn't have posted his report for that day...

I knew I had reason to be wary of those coy dogs of the sea!!! I thought they were getting too close in Pacific City for me.  The whales, no mind.  Sealions, no likey.

You can watch OFG shows on OPB.org.

Here's the kayak fishing clip.

-Scott!

Yeah thats it, but what they don't tell you is about the walk down (and up) 15 flights of stairs to get to the beach and then the 1/4 mile walk over the sand to get to the water ::)
Nice spot though.

Seasick? Man, that's chum generation! ;D
That wasn't a thick wetsuit either,  Hmmmm, Must have been warm that day. :o  Its kinda funny though, he had on exactly my old standard outfit for fishing in SoCal (Costco Shorty and Neoprene Ski vest.) I still use that sometimes as a base up here.
They did have on PFD's though and most importantly, they looked like they have a really good time!
