Darned few striper reports

I just did a search for stripers and found only a few passing references to Coos Bay and Reedsport. Has anyone spent much time chasing these in the Coos/Coquille or the Umpqua/Smith?
Years ago a friend and I rented a boat at Reedsport and spent the day trolling jointed Rebels along the log booms at Gardiner, but got nary a bump. On returning to port, we saw several old anglers hauling their day's fish -- big old bruisers whose tails were dragging on the ground to the cleaning station.
 Man, I think a striper on a fly from a kayak would have to be one of the great thrills of kayak fishing.
I remember once catching a small striper while trolling a Doc Shelton and worm for jacks and bluebacks in the Siuslaw near Midway. What a surprise.

Few stripers= few reports.

As I recall OR's striper population is in a decline. I don't remember hearing why. They utilize both marine and freshwater environments, so I imagin e their fairly vulnerable to changes.

I've never caught a striper on the West Coast, but enjoyed them on the East Coast.

I think a striper on a fly from a kayak would have to be one of the great thrills of kayak fishing.

It is pretty damn awesome. Then again most fish are awesome from a yak!
