My T13 arrived much sooner than I expected. I have to slam together a rack for my truck just to get it home. I have waders and PFDs so I can try it in calm local waters, but lack a paddle, Any suggestions on a good cheap paddle that will work reasonably well later as a spare/backup for the salt and other waters? I think it was Boxofrain that uses a Carlisle Daytripper in the ocean ...

I posted an error there....I use the Carlisle Magic.
I have one for each of my two Yaks.
I just picked up my newest Yak ($449.00) and a "Magic" paddle at Kokopelli in Ashland for $79.00.
I am afraid to go any cheaper with a paddle, as it is a pretty imnportant tool while on the water.

Boxofrain:
Thanks. I was going to stop in at Kokopelli on Monday anyway to check out their Kokatat gear.

Righto! Matt let me try on his Kokatat drysuit. I didn't even have to do the "Wali dance" to get it on or off.

let's see...... :icon_scratch: cheapo paddles.......

probably the 1st place i'd look is the local Joe's, followed by the local SW [ sportsmans warehouse] probably safer with the paddles from SW than the junk from Joe's ... mostly what i've seen is heavy shafted aluminum and plastics, which might get ya by in a pinch, but don;t absolutely trust your life to them...

save your money, take a page from depression era parents or grandparents, by the best you can afford, and make it hurt just a little..in the long run you;re better off.

seriously looking for a cheap paddle deal, on something thats reputable, and sold privately? check your local craiglist ads.... maybe garage sales... don't forget the small outdoors stores that are family owned and operated, look in the clearance bins...

we did start out by being asked about cheap paddles, right??[/

Went to pick up my boat yesterday and bought a Bending Branches Slice for roughly half price. It has a fiberglass shaft, and I am hoping it will be a good first paddle that soon goes to the back up role.
