Any reason I can't use a cordless drill battery for my FF

seems like a good idea.  I have extra batteries with chargers laying around.  I tested it with the FF on my PB and everything seemed to run but it was a dry test not on the water.  Seems like a good idea but I thought I would ask the experts.

Would probably work. What kind of Amp Hour rating are they? my 5 AH battery last at least 5 trips, so a lower AH would be sufficient. Most FF's can handle more then 12 volts also, so you could use a higher voltage battery, seems they have one for every volt and even every tenths of volts.

From what I've read most FF's run on 8 volts and slough off the rest as heat. I don't know if that holds true for the FF/GPS's, but a lot of kfs folks are using 8 cell 2500ma NiMH AA packs that run at 9.6V. I still use a 12v 7amp hr gell cell because its what I have. I'm sure the drill battery would work just fine.

Thanks, I think I'll use it on some test runs and see how long it lasts.  On a side note are all you Trident pilots running the transducer in the scupper hole or doing a thru hull install.

The special Trident scupper hole mount requires a special transducer (only form Humminbird) that costs an additional ~$70.   I'm still shooting my signal through the hull.

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure you can order directly from humminbird and get whatever transducer swapped out at the factory for the same price as the regular...i know you can do it for through hull transducers...but they will only do it if you order direct from them...which means you aren't going to get as good a deal...then again if you need that transducer u are getting a better deal

Thanks guys my PB fishfinder is a humminbird and I was wondering why it looked like it wouldn't fit.  I guess that explains it
