I finally got my fish finder all rigged up sunday at about 3 o clock....it was a lazy weekend...but I had to get on the water...So I loaded the cart up and rolled it down to the water by my house...I headed north for alki point to try and find the artificial reef...made a quick stop half way at a buddies house said hey and showed him my kayak cause he says he wants to start fishing out of his...
At about 6 I continued from his house to the reef area....I searched for nearly an hour where I thought the reef was...of course dumb me didn't get the coordinates before I left the house...I finally got mad at about 7 and called my mom back in sc and told her to get on the computer and type alki artificial reef coordinates on Google...after about 5 mins of looking (my mom isn't the fastest internet user, but at least she tries :)  she finds some coordinates and gives them to me I type them on the gps...look at them and tell her I don't think those are it they are about 10 miles away...so she searches some more and gives me another set which is about 3/4 a mile away which was much more reasonable lol....so we finish talking and I start heading south to the coordinates I get within about 400 feet of the coordinates and I see a sharp rise in depth from about 75ft to about 55ft and it looks like pretty solid structure so I drop the berkley saltwater scented grub down....bam before it hits the bottom it gets slammed....I start reeling up and it turns out to be a rockfish an inch bigger than the one I got for aoty so I cpr it...drop it again bam after a few jiggs of the lure....it feels a bit heavier this time...its another rockfish but much bigger this time but he threw the hook at the top....so I paddle back up current to a slightly deeper spot in about 80 feet of water...drop the lure get hung up....break the line...tie another jig on and drop it again....it gets hit much harder this time...I start reeling but it goes slack...I drop the lure again...bam hit with the same intensity this time he's hooked good...I get it to the surface and its a ling...he made a big set of splashes when I netted him...got him on the hawg trough but he was only 24 inches :(... Its now about 8:30 and I am roughly 2.5nm from my house...but I don't wanna leave the fishing was too good and I just found the reef like 45 mins ago...so I drop it again and it gets hit pretty quickly this time its another rock fish which I believe was slightly larger than the 12.75er but the little guy jumped out of my hands after he spiked me in the leg and landed in the water :(...oh well he wasn’t much bigger but i'm guessing 14 inches or so

finally about 8:45 I decided I had better get moving seeing as I don't really have the proper lighting yet...I booked it back pushing it a little harder than I am used to...ran about 3-3.5kts for the 2.5 nm or whatever it was back...needless to say I was tired and  needless to say Monday  I was sore...I was gonna go out today but I started getting a cold yesterday and now its full blown so I guess it will be Friday at the soonest…

Gotta catch a bigger rockfish and ling before Monday muhahaahahaha

Man that would totally suck to live that close to salt water fishing.   ;D

I mean, nothing else would ever get done.  Work would start to slack, and eventually have to sell the yak to pay to keep the lights on.  :sign10:

Your mom sounds like she's a keeper for internet help.  If were to call my mom and ask for GPS coordinates, I would have to spend an hour explaining what this is, how it is used, and why I want her to look it up.   :D

Great report.
