Caught this 16 incher today but couldn't be sure of the species so I released it. Based on the ODFW regulations pictures, I'm pretty sure it is a vermillion.   :dontknow:  Definitely not a yelloweye.

Help?

I'm thinking it is a yellow eye (juvy).

I'd agree w/ Insayn. They can be stripey. Good job releasing when you can't ID.

Fishing north and a little west of the bouy?  If so, that is "orange fish" central..

Beautiful fish Jay! Maybe someday you will catch him again, and be able to have a nice dinner! Hopefully yelloweyes and canaries will someday be back in the pool.

It would be nice if they could breed fish to have a label on them somewhere to make identifying them a bit easier.  Some of the fish are just too damn close in disguise to make an easy judgement call.
